Indian Domestic Flight passengers traffic raised upto 19.3 percent in 6 months

The Civil Aviation of India stated Indian Domestic air passengers’ traffic grew over 19 percent from January to August of this year as against the same period last year. With increasing opportunity of airlines, travel agents and online booking portal (Flights Cheapest) websites in delivering cheapest airfares, there seems a high increase of air passengers in just 6 months. The numbers of passengers carried by Indian domestic airlines from January-August, 2010 were 33.9 crores as against the 28.42 crores in the corresponding period of year 2009 which registered a remarkable growth of over 19.3 percent.

Though there was a marginal fall from 40.84 lakhs in August to 39.89 lakhs in July in the domestic passengers’ traffic. The total domestic passengers carried by the scheduled Airlines of India in the month of August, 2010 were 39.89 lakhs. It may be recalled that the total domestic passengers carried by the Scheduled Airlines of India in the month of July, 2010 were 40.84 lakhs.

Kingfisher leads the race of carrying 7.97 lakh passengers , the national carrier Air India carrying 7.30 lakh passengers, while Jet Airways and its low cost airlines Lite flew 7.79 lakh and 2.99 lakh passengers respectively.

Air India is nation's 'Most Trusted Airline': Surveyed by Economic Times

In a record of sorts, national carrier Air India was chosen as the 'Most Trusted Brand' in the national Aviation sector for the fifth year for providing the Cheapest airfare over the decades. One of the most trusted name on Cheapest flights in India.

The honor was bestowed upon the airline in the Economic Times Brand Equity Survey 2010, said Air India which added that AI has also been ranked 28th among the top 50 Service Brands, ahead of leading banks, insurance companies, food chains and airlines.


The Most Trusted Brands Survey was conducted by the Economic Times in collaboration with The Nielsen Company, a leading market research agency that identifies brands that bond with consumers who believe it provides quality and reassurance.

Recently, Air India was also presented with the Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Gold Award for the fifth consecutive year.

Today AI, with a fleet of 135 aircraft and network spanning 52 destinations across the US, Europe, Canada, Far-East and South-East Asia and the Gulf, also covers 63 destinations in the domestic sector, including far-flung areas of the North-East, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Moreover, Air India will launch daily Mumbai

-Abu Dhabi flights from Nov 1. The airline currently operates five weekly flights to Abu Dhabi. This frequency has been increased to daily flights, the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said.

The move is to meet the growing demand in flight services in the sector.

The Mumbai-Abu Dhabi route recorded a 17 percent increase in passenger traffic in the first half of 2010, compared with the corresponding period last year.

The additional services will raise Air India's total number of flights to Abu Dhabi to 14, connecting the UAE capital with both Mumbai and Delhi.


Air India will operate the high-tech A321 aircraft which will depart from Abu Dhabi at 2.40 a.m., and will arrive in Mumbai at 6.55 a.m. It will offer both business and economy class services, ADAC said.

An amount of Rs.678 crore has been approved by the Government towards training for domestic/international competitions in India and also for foreign exposure; equipments and scientific back-up for the sportspersons. Apart from the above, Security will be on high alert, around 80,000 Delhi police personnel, over 17,500 paramilitary personnel, 3,000 commandos and 100 anti-sabotage check teams will be deployed across the city. Delhi set a new look to appraise the much awaited Common wealth Games 2010, and an special train was flagged off from Delhi on July 24 to mark the awareness of the XIX Commonwealth Games to the common man and women of India. This special exhibition train would offer the perfect knowledge base of the event and showcase the history of Commonwealth Games. This special train consists of 11 coaches out of which 5 of the coach’s exhibits the history of Commonwealth games, the most famous sportspersons in India and moreover its fully air conditioned which would be stationed for 3 days for local public to know more. The enthusiastic spectators worldwide and from the country too are also opting cheapest domestic flight tickets within India.
