Delhi — the national capital and the political hub of the country; home to a large number of historical monuments like Red Fort, Purana Qila, India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Jama Masjid, among others; diverse religions co-existing and houses India’s biggest fashion industry as well.
Agra — the imperial capital of the Mughal Empror during Shah Jahan’s reign; Agra is home to the Taj Mahal, which is one of the World’s seven wonders.
Bodhgaya — the original place where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under a bodhi tree, who then went on to establish Buddhism as a major religion, Bodhgaya is located in Bihar, and, as per a survey, this place attracts more tourists than Goa every year.
Jaipur — built in 1727 by King Sawaii Jai Singh, this place is most visited for its historical places. Jaipur is famous for the Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Fort, Chowkidhani, among others.
Hyderabad – It was the imperial capital of the Nizams of Hyderabad and houses many historical monuments like the charminar, Golconda fort, Qutab Shahi Tombs, and the Falaknuma Palace.
Jaisalmer – Founded in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal, located in Rajasthan, this place is famous for its many historic carved havelis, windswept sand dunes, and magnificent golden fortress. It also hosts a desert festival where color, culture and camel come together to give a feast to the eyes.
Apart from these, all other cities of India have some or the other historical importance and significance, be it Mumbai, Mysore, Varanasi, Madurai, Mahabalipuram, Khajuraho, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Pondichery or any other place.
With large number of cheapest domestic flights available in India, travel has greatly increased.
